Fall TV

As a rule, I don't watch a whole lot of TV. I do usually have a football game on during the season. I'm a fan of Lost. Now I find myself being drawn into NBC's new show, Gruesome Corpses... er... I mean, Heroes.

HiroI'm a little torn over this show, frankly. It's got a good story so far, and the geeky Japanese character is a joy to watch. There's also... well... I'm surprised at the quantity and condition of the dead bodies on the show. Especially since this is a prime-time program. That's probably all I should say about that particular subject. :)

NikiPerception is a funny thing, though. For example, one character who intrigues me is a lady with an "superpower" that is hard to define. When she looks in a mirror, her reflection is alive somehow. When she's in danger the mirror lady takes over, generally producing a gruesome corpse and the occasional stolen car.

A source of superpowers? I think not.I've been pondering her character. Is she a "good guy"? A "bad guy"? What exactly does the mirror lady do when she's cut loose (it's all been off-camera so far)? Then, I see a post on an internet message board that (paraphrased) says, "She's boring. Let's see a character whose superpower can't be explained by alcoholism."

Oh well. I guess I'll keep watching Gruesome Cor... er... I mean, Heroes. The story and the moments of humor are quite good. I just hope they start using their "Special Effects" budget for more super-hero-y things, or they might lose me as a viewer.

I've also got into Heroes. It fills the void until The 4400 returns next year.

Some friends loaned us the 1st season of Lost on DVD. We were really into it, but after about 10 episodes, we got tired of it just raising more questions without ever answering anything. So we burned the DVD's and now we don't speak to those "friends."

Well if you only watched 10 episodes then you only got to the first round of questions!!! Season 2 opens up whole avenues of questions the first season only hinted at and now, as in tonight at 8 o'clock, Season 3 begins, be ready and be wary!

Well, I just started watching LOST last season for 2 reasons: My sister had been bugging me about it for while to see, and I found out Henry Ian Cusick was guest starring (he played Jesus in "Gospel of John") in the S2 premiere, who I already liked. Then I also knew that there were 3 other actors I already liked from other things: Daniel Dae Kim (Lt. Matheson from Crusade), Mira Furlan (Delenn from Babylon 5), and Dominic Monaghan (Merry from Lord of the Rings). So I thought I'd give it a shot, and I liked it. However, I was a little lost (no pun intended) not having seen Season 1. I wasn't obsessive about it, it was entertaining, but then my mom got me Season 1 DVD's for Christmas. So we spent a couple of weekends catching up, and then things made more sense.

Now I know that they intend to always have loose ends, but I do find it interesting when they tie a few up here and there.

Now Jeff, I didn't even know you watched LOST! You posted that you didn't really like the S3 premiere episode, and that it was hard to figure out. What part was difficult? (of course, they leave 3 questions for each 1 they answer)...

Anyhow, it's the only show I watch on TV now, and can talk half-way intelligently about. So needless to say, I haven't caught the new show Gruesom...er Heroes yet.
